With the power vested in me by the spirit of La Petit Taureau, I now pronounce June 1st, 2014 as the very first "Justine Henin Day." On this day in 1982, a young girl was born in Liege, Belgium. No one knew what awaited her. Thankfully, the Tennis Gods were kind.
Backspin thanks them, and fondly remembers.
All for now.
Enjoyed the puzzle. Really miss Justine!
ReplyDeleteYou know, it says something about her that, ever since her first retirement in '08, every RG has felt like a scramble to sit in her Paris throne for a year.
ReplyDeleteIf someone other than Sharapova or Kuznetsova wins this year, it'll be eight different champions over an eight-year stretch!
