Wk.21- Bare Bones Backspin
Editor's note: subbing for Todd for this abbreviated edition of Backspin is Carl Caveman. He has promised to do his best.
Carl need new photo. Much more handsome now.
If remember, Carl do Backspin last March. Wrote about Justine. Carl miss Justine. Back in day, Carl drag Justine by hair back to cave. Even let her sleep in dry corner of cave where ants not so bad.
But no time to think about what happen if Justine as old as Carl. Carl back to do Bare Bones Backspin before Roland Garros.
(pause)
Bare BONES Backspin. Todd think funny? He making fun of Carl? Bones good weapon. Provide Carl and woman with good meals. Carl crush Todd's skull with BARE hands and pick teeth with shard when see him.

S: Anabel Medina-Garrigues def. Katarina Srebotnik 4-6/7-6/6-0
D: Perebiynis/Yan d. Chan/Chuang
ISTANBUL, TURKEY (III-RCO)
S: Agnieszka Radwanska def. Elena Dementieva 6-3/6-2
D: Craybas/Govortsova d. Erakovic/Hercog
Mmmm. Carl like turkey. When can catch it. Surprisingly elusive (looked that word up). Give to woman after drag back to cave.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Agnieszka Radwanska, POL
...A-Rad. Istanbul. Beat Dementieva in final, Pironkova in semi. Bagel Cirstea in 2nd Round. What "bagel?"
=============================
RISERS: Anabel Medina-Garrigues, ESP & Tsvetana Pironkova, BUL
...AMG defend Strasbourg, win third title there in four years. Defeat veterans Zakopalova, Pennetta (walkover) and Srebotnik as well as youngster Bacsinszky. Anabel underrated, but never make people pay attention in grand slam. Pironkova follow Rome QF with Istanbul SF. She Bulgarian like Sesil. Carl know Sesil. She wild girl. Carl drag Sesil back to cave by hair. Sesil asked to switch hands so she no get pain in neck.
=============================
SURPRISE: Akgul Amanmuradova, UZB
...Akgul in second SF of '08 in Istanbul. Defeat Nakamura and Petrova. Poor Nadia. Like Todd, Carl enjoy Nadia. Only thing we have in common. Is one of Todd's few redeeming values. But not enough to keep Carl from breaking him when he see him.
=============================
VETERANS: Katarina Srebotnik, SLO & Elena Dementieva, RUS
...Srebotnik reach Strasbourg final. Lose to AMG. Katarina 27. Far too young for Carl, but a "veteran" in tennis. Dementieva reach final in Istanbul, but no defend title. She reach finals in last two events (also Berlin). Carl like Dementieva anyway, but even more since she no win and give Todd two correct champion picks this week. Carl would try to drag Elena by hair to cave, but Carl intimidated by shiny hair and long legs.
=============================
FRESH FACES: Timea Bacsinszky, SUI & Chan Yung-Jan, TPE
...Timea new Swiss Miss? She defeat Dokic, Yan and A-Bond in Strasbourg. Reach SF. Chan a double threat. Reach doubles final, and singles SF with wins over Razzano, Dellacqua and Sugiyama.
=============================
DOWN: Tatiana Golovin, FRA
...Todd say two Tatianas. Good Tatiana. Bad Tatiana. Todd wrong. Are three Tatianas. Good, Bad and Invisible Tatiana. She pull out of Roland Garros. Carl sad. He not get to see any of Tatianas much in 2008.
=============================
ITF PLAYER: Nina Bratchikova, RUS or Ksenia Pervak, RUS
...Todd say winner will be champion of Moscow $25K event. Guess Todd pick all right. Carl like name "Ksenia," so he favor her even if lose. Wonder if she let drag back to cave?
=============================
1. Stras F - Medina-Garrigues d. Srebotnik
...4-6/7-6/6-0. Srebotnik lead 6-4/1-1, then rained. AMG back from 6-4/6-5 hole to win eighth career title (seventh on clay). Remind Carl of time he hide in hole from big animal all night, then kill with bone while it sleep. See... bones good.
=============================
2. Ist F - A.Radwanska d. Dementieva
...6-3/6-2. A-Rad only teen with WTA singles title in 2008. She have two of them.
=============================

=============================

=============================
6. Ist 2nd - A.Radwanska d. Cirstea
...6-0/6-0. "0's" are pretty. Want to drag back to cave.
=============================
7. RG Q3 - Pandzic d. #2 Niculescu
...2-6/7-5/6-4. Monica still make draw as lucky loser. Carl glad.
=============================

=============================
9. RG Q1 - Dzehalevich d. #14 Zahlavova Strycova
...7-6/6-3. Barbora win on ITF, but not in Roland Garros qualifying. Poor Maiden.
=============================
